I got it prescribed Prednisone by my dermatologist for eczema. You said it lowers your immune system and raises inflammation. Yeah maybe it won’t help because eczema is an autoimmune disorder and caused by inflammation. The last thing I need to do is wreck my adrenals.
Corticosteroids - I took it for only five short days .I felt great and energetic ... after stopping : crashed. My symptoms: I gained 5 lbs , extreme fatigue , craving for food specially sweets, headache , dizziness . After a week , I feel better with a help of herbs that support adrenals, detoxing and mindfulness technics. ... my doctor has admitted that these symptoms were due taking prednisone !!! She did not tell me before and I am in my fifties, prior to this I did not take meds for 7 years so this chemical really wrecked me . Take responsibility for your own health and research . I did not ....
Yes i agree its very very toxic, you did not mention the very real pshycological effects of this drug - aggression and huge mood swings. I have had my life destroyed in a flash because of this and am now homeless with an enlarged thymoma ( the prednisone was part of the treatment and did nothing ) severe bronchial infection, foot drop and oral thrush due to this drug from only 4 months use 50mg daily. Thanks for the info, am weaning off it now carefully but people really need to avoid this stuff.
I am on Pred for long term. I've been using this medication from last 7 years (max 90mg to min 5mg) on and off and almost every day in last two years. I see lot of side effects, mainly, Weak bones, loss immunity, mood swings, pimples, appetite (weight gain). They are not noticeably dangerous yet, but I should be careful and look for another medication.
Asthmatic here, a doctor prescribed this drug for me but at least he had the decency to tell me about the side-effects and warned me that it's definitely not for long term use. Anyway, thanks to the doctor in the video. I'm definitely gonna try the other stuff you recommend. 👍
I imagine most drugs - medications - have side effects to them. But they can alleviate illnesses and the side-effects these illness problems associated with them. One should always work with your medical professionals who prescribe these drugs for you, and you should also become educated about the medications themselves as much as possible.
They put me on this for Tinnitus. Lord in heaven I have never felt so depressed in my life I almost killed myself and trust me when I say I’m a very strong personality. I took 8 a day. Gained weight on my stomach and my face. I can never ever recommend it.
Never rely on any doctor going on youtube making claims about any drug or medication. The only real professional is your General Practitioner and Specialist treating you. Most people require this drug for their medical condition, and their General Practitioners outweighed all the pros and cons and explained this medication to their patient in detail I am sure. I would rather consult my GP than traverse on Youtube medical videos where Doctors make claims about dangers. These videos should not be permitted for the public, as most people are very vulnerable to seeking medical information online, when most of it cannot be fully proven or what it is claimed. Your Doctor knows the best.

Methylprednisolone psychosis. My husband began his blister pack wednesday/Thursday and discontinued use late saturday.
Monday night he believed himself to be a messiah of God.
I am a wreck. Please tell me when this will end. Please!
I searched for info on Prednisone because I’m currently rx for flare ups. I have PsA and my legs start thin and normal (no cankles) to looking so bad/swollen that I appear like a dialysis patient! I’m now currently on 10mg but I take only 1 now and it makes me feels so sick, like I’m high on something, nausea, I feel like my heart beats faster, my anxiety comes out really bad and again I feel like I took a horrible drug bc I don’t feel like I can drive after taking this. I only now take one when I have no other option but too! Anyways I used to be rx very low doses and I’d panic so I’d take 3 2mg, 2 5mg because I couldn’t walk, this went on for months at a time with maybe a couple hours of a break from gigantic, deformed legs only to immediately feel the swelling reoccur as soon as I changed position from legs being elevated to blood flow restored. The swelling was so severe it permanently stained my feet, ankles now it looks like I have permanent bruising :( I don’t want to take it but like today I had a bad flare up so I took 1 10mg and now I feel awful
I was given 10 Mila a day for the last 2 year off and on. For polymyositic and lungs decease. I'm scard if what it going to do to me?... but I can't even walk if I don't take this stuff, I'm in so much pain!
What else should I jar that will ease my muscule pains?
Was wanting to start keto but NOW I'm taking emergency 40mg Pred for Temporal arteritis and finally after 2 months, I'm pain free. HOWEVER, i'm now gaining weight, swollen moon face and miserable and my sugar is sky high <i'm diabetic anyways>. What do I do for "keto diet" now that i'm taking a lot more insulin to lower my sugar. I weight 347. HELP PLEASE.. ty doc
I keep taking myself off it just to be put back on it. My rheumatologist makes me take of for my lupus and Raynaud's. I now have a collapsed hip from all the steroids. I lost all my muscles in my arms and legs. I took myself off. Now I have shrinking lung syndrome. They want to put me back on steroids so my lungs will stop shrinking. I'm wondering what's going to kill me first. My lupus or the medicine?
I developed phobia of heights called Acrophobia that my first time feeling it was on the (high) elevated train station platform holding tight on a pole because my feeling is I'm going to fall. That took me 3 months to get rid of the Phobia.
Had to take 20mg though for a week for horrible poision ivy that just would not go away and is getting worse. Tried everything else :(. Just started today, hope this helps my rashes cause I'm in a lot of pain.
Of course I care. :) Like to hear that. It's just feedback from others that part take in same meds I have. Reaction can differ I know between people but I'm glad it worked. Itching will still continue for a bit just be patient and put cream on it.
Scotty lol not sure if you care or not or if you even want an update but !! i’m a lot better now, the places where it as really bad are completely healed. i’m still itching a little bit like on my face, stomach, legs, but they go away after a few minutes and they don’t blister up like it used to, just gets a little red then goes away. but for the most part i’m better ! i thought i’d never get better, it was sooo bad. thank you for the tips and all the help ! i really appreciate it !
Scotty thank you so much ! the doctors said for me it’s probably poison ivy but i hadn’t really been near any so i didn’t even think that could be it, but if it is it’s probably the worst case of poison ivy i’ve ever had so far. the itching and burning is the most obnoxious thing ever, but i’m also a really impatient person so i’m very anxious for this medication to work. i’ll definitely update you !
Please let me know if your start to heal. You should notice some healing in a couple days and then after about 15 days ish I was looking a lot better. The itching for me stopped about on the 3rd day of this medicine.
i have to take it because my asthma cannot be controlled regularly. I noticed it make me really weak when i take it, i feel paralyzed. I don't know what else to do for Asthma everything they give me seems to be nothing compared to this one.
Thanks so much Dr - prescribed 40mg daily for inflammation after a polpys operation - taking for three days now and I feel like I am getting other things wrong with me... I hate drugs anyways but as this was after a small operation. Consulting my dr to stop talking today.
I’m too scared to take the Medrol pk prescribed for me today bc of past reactions- 25-30lbs gain, moon face that took 4-6 mos to leave, insomnia, restlessness, jittery, aggressive downright mean behavior, belly fat that stayed with wt gain. Something says Don’t every time I start to take the first dose even tho pain level is so bad can’t stop crying.
My brother was on prednisone for about 6 months before he died at age 34.
He was born with a muscle problem and was always in a wheelchair. He had poor circulation from sitting and was given prednisone for a leg infection. He died of respiratory failure.
Don't listen to this so called doctor. Prednisone is a miracle drug and must be used when necessary where otherwise inflammation would go rampant and do much more damage to the body as opposed to taking prednisone. Apart from this, many people on chronic prednisone for underlying immunologic damage (autoimmune) go into remission thanks to the drug. Most of the side effects come from long-term use and high dosage (30Mg+). For example, 80% of people with polymyalgia rheumatica have so much pain that it becomes unbearable to live. With only a starting dose of 15mg a day, symptoms completely disappear with 3 days. After 2 years on this drug, they can be weaned off and achieve remission. Same goes for Giant cell arteritis and much more diseases. I speak from experience. Plus, many of the side effects can be avoided. These include weight gain, high blood pressure, imsomnia, weak bones and prednisone face. Drugs were created for a reason, and that reason is to help people regain their help. Diets and crap supplements do nothing to help your body, unless you have an allergy when a change in diet would be beneficial. Some people have to take drugs
Maybe I am alergic to it. I took a tapered cycle for 5 whole days to help get over a sinus infection. The day after I quit it I got a headache. Not bad but a headache like I get if I quit coffee cold turkey. Four days later the headache became so bad I came home from work early and headed to the doctor. He gave me a steroid shot -- which totally alleviated the headache after a couple of hours and prescribed a steroid nose spray and antibiotics -- because I have a secondary infection now. The headache was so bad I could not go to work. I used the nasal spray and it seemed to take the 'edge' off -- after about eight hours.. I guess I will ween myself with the nasal spray but I am certainly never taking steroids again!
I took the first 2 pills on a week treatment that night at 3 am i wake up with serious chest pain and heart palpitations. I cant do anything without pain. Not even sitting still. My left arm is weak and my right eye feels like someone punched me. Im taking it because i got sick with a infection but this is a first.
Great video! I was put on 10mg of Prednisone for chronic sinus congestion/allergy problems. I started taking it 2 days ago. The directions say take 4 pills for two days, then take 3 pills for 2 days, and so on until you get down to 1 pill for 3 days, then stop. Y My number 1 side effects are Insomnia, restlessness, agitation and irritability! You see, I had sinus surgery two years ago for chronic sinus congestion, the surgery was not successful. I had a bilateral reduction of my turbinates, which become inflamed and cause the congestion. So, I went back to my Ear Nose and Throat Specialist a few days ago and he put me on Flonase and Prednisone. Flonase never has seemed to work for me but giving it another try. I hope the Hell of the Prednisone side effects are going to result in a success of long term sinus congestion relief. Just so you know, I'm a w/m 56. I've only been on the Prednisone for two days and have debated whether to abruptly discontinue it due to the side effects. I forgot to ask my doctor, upon finishing the 11 days of Prednisone. Does that mean that since it's an anti inflammatory medication, that there will be a permanent anti inflammatory relief result? Also, you mentioned in the video, that Prednisone damages the liver. Since, I've taken 40mg, so far for Day 1 and Day 2 of treatment, do you think that that short time, would damage my liver much? Just so you know, I've always had normal liver and kidney test results. My main concern (and I know, you don't have crystal ball nor can see in the future), I don't know If this 11 day treatment is going to permanently correct my chronic sinus congestion or not??? If it would, then it would be worth dealing with the negative side effects. However, if it doesn't help then I have just subjected my body to unnecessary cruelty in a number of ways. Your thoughts on my situation, as I've described to you, Would you stop taking it 2 days after you have started taking it? Feel free to answer my questions and/or give me any additional advice. Thanks.
I got a 7 day script for a rash couple days later my joints frozen in unbearable pain nothing stopped it could barely get to bathroom went back to doc they said i had ra or lupus gave me booster shot of pred and 14 day pact same thing happened again only worse lungs filled with fluids had to go to er get lungs drained they said i had palmanery ra next week back to er more tests they drained lungs put on 10 a day pred i could move again skin dryed up aged alot fingernails truned black and blue then started peeling off 60 days after they said I'd have to switch to humira or ebrenul I said no they said lets kill your immune system off and start over they wouldn't give me any pain meds so igot my own they helped enough to make it bearable then i ran out haven't had but a few asprin in morn sometimes last two months been getting better
I'm on 5mg of prednisone. My doctor has said that I've gained a lot of weight. I hear steroids are steroids and its hard not to gain. I read it causes insomnia. Ever since my kp transplant, I'm up until 1 am and sometimes until 3 or 4am. My dietician shared with me that sleep deprivation can cause weight gain as well. Can 5 mg still cause weight gain? I'm annoyed bc I've started drinking 2 74 oz bottles of water eating 1.5 oz of nuts and drinking smoothies (romaine lettuce almond milk strawberries blueberries natural peanut butter and unsweetened cocoa). Its hard to convince my dr that I'm doing right even though my labs are awesome😒. I'm highly annoyed!!
I had a heart & double lung transplant 11 months ago. I developed cataracts in both eyes after a huge 3 day infusion for slight rejection early on. Ive also gained 50 pounds!! What’s the best way to lose weight while on prednisone for life?
Hello Dr. Berg, I have something wrong with my ears. My right ear especially. Last year a nurse practitioner told me that, it was bulging ear. It feels like my ear is clogged 24/7. When I try to swallow to clear it, I can't. I try to ignore it but sometimes it gets to me. I went back to the doctor and I was prescribed MethyIPREDNISolone Tablets, USP 4 MG and Cetirizine. I haven't taken one pill yet. I am very worry. Will you please do a video on these two medicine and there side effects?
I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis 7 years ago and went down the vitamin and herbal route and it suppressed the inflammation that is produced by the disease however the last month (April 2018) the disease has broken past the barrier that the natural remedies could sustain. After a week in the hospital and 5 new specialist doctors I have been placed on Prednisone 20 mg 3 times a day and concerned about the side effects.
I just found out about my ear condition last Thursday. To start from the beginning I started hearing buzzing sound or like little wind blowing in my right ear on April 5 Thursday and thought it was nothing of a big deal which will go away in a day or two. It was bother some but I didn't have any pain or was able to sleep normal. I never had this experience before and was not aware of tinnitus. I waited few days and by Tuesday I noticed not just the buzzing/hissing but also I am hearing less volume on my right ear compare to the left with the same TV volume sound. It' not that I can't hear on right ear, it's just little tiny bit less volume sound hearing if we put it as a tv or radio for an example. On Wednesday April 11, I went to see my Doctor who had me get x-ray done for sinus and referred me to see an ENT doctor the next day. So on Wednesday April 12, I had my hearing test done and was seen by ENT doctor. He said it's a mild hearing loss on the right ear. He prescribed me meds for a month and wants me to come back for follow up and re do the hearing test again. He said meds sometimes help patients with hearing but can't guarantee. The doctor has prescribed me Prednisone for a month that will start from high dose to low.
My medication for a month
Prednisone 60mg daily for 7 days ( 12 tabs - ( each tab is 5mg )
Prednisone 40mg daily for 7 days ( 8 tabs - ( each tab is 5mg )
Prednisone 20mg daily for 7 days ( 4 tabs - ( each tab is 5mg )
Prednisone 10mg daily for 7 days ( 2 tabs - ( each tab is 5mg )
I started my meds from Friday April 13 and will finish up on Thursday May 10. And I have the follow up appointment on Tuesday May 15.
Am I suppose to take these ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️while I am on Prednisone or after I am done with the meds? 1. Cortisol Support
3. Stinging Nettle Root
Should I ask my regular doctor to check my blood sugar and liver enzymes after I am done with prednisone? After how long? What other things can i do that will help with other damage or side effects from taking Prednisone?
Thank you in advance.
Its a double-eged sword... for RA was helping SO much in the short term, then my mucles became really weak and painful... very hard to reduce, but gosh I'm trying.. down from 25 mg to 3 mg now.. wish me luck, almost there!
I was prescribed prednisone for a back injury in 2014. My health took a dive shortly after I stopped taking it. 5 months after finishing my prescription, half my hair fell out. I also started experiencing symptoms of Lupus, which at that time I didn't know what it was. I don't know if there is a link there or not. 😕
I am only taking it for 5 days. I have a severe sinus infection and abscessed tonsils. I hope that a short burst doesn’t hurt me to badly. Been on keto for 3 months. I cannot take anything else so-no to the supplements bc I’m already on anti seizure meds. I guess i get through my 5 days and it is what it is. It could always be worse.
Pamela Masters I had an issue with my sinuses and Methylprednisolone has been a miracle for me - I was in pain for 3 and a half weeks. I took one of those blister packs and on day 2 I feel like a million bucks - I hope it worked well for you
Thank you for this video.. I was on prednisone for a few months on & off & figured out what was wrong so off it thankfully.. Ive heard of NAC & will look up the side effects because I still have an over active immune system
I've been prescribed this for urticaria. I took this in my 20's for the same issue and it didn't do much but I did get real mean. idk why. Is it dangerous to take it in my case? I have to take it for 9 days. I have a vitiligo as well.
Erectile dysfunction is a very common condition, one which affects most men at some point in their lives. The most popular treatment for it is Viagra, which means there are an awful lot of men out there trying to buy the medicine.
However, it is not always obvious how and where you can buy Viagra, especially as erectile dysfunction and how to obtain treatment for the condition are unlikely to be topics you discuss with your mates down the pub. So, for those looking for a bit of guidance, here are some tips on where and how to buy Viagra safely: Where can I buy Viagra?
