Jeremy: Hi, my name's Jeremy, and I'm one of the managers at Nasi Lemak Korner. Basically, the owner started Nasi Lemak Korner because he found out there was a real gap in the market in terms of beautiful Malaysian cuisine, but in an urban and comfortable setting. So, the philosophy is, basically, we're trying to bring more casual, say, almost street food to a more contemporary modern setting. Most of the time, when you go to Malaysia, you find that the best foods are in the dirtiest, grimiest places, so for us, we decided to bring it back here in a more contemporary setting. And it's a bit more comfortable, kind of hip music, but not too stuffy, as well. We find that the Malaysian cuisine in Perth is up and coming, but there's not that many outlets that could say they're very comfortable or modern in terms of their environment.
June: So I'm June DeMartinez [SP], and I'm one of the shift managers at Nasi Lemak Korner. So, our menu is created to be as authentic as possible to Malaysian street food. We have a lot of different dishes that link back to the Malaysian culture. One of our main popular dish is the beef rendang. So, we've created this dish that really, really gets the flavors of the beef rendang that you find in Malaysia. We've also got the roti, which will come in different styles. So, we have the roti canai, which is a soft buttery bread that can pull apart. We've also got the roti tisu, which is a sweet version of it. We've also got fried noodles, which is really, really popular. It's got a lot of flavor which people come back for.
So, we have the roti making classes, which is a new thing that we're gonna try out. We're mainly doing it to just bring our customers back, and try and get a relationship with our customers. If you wanna book it, we're just gonna do it through email, so just give us your email, and we'll try and book it for you guys.
So, we've been getting really, really busy, so we decided to try and do some takeaway options. So, we do everything on the main menu. Anything that you like, we can do takeaway. We pack it up for you guys. It's just something that we're gonna do to help those who can't quite get a booking because we get quite busy, so you can just take the time and have this street food at home.
Yeah, so we have our first location, which was in Como on Preston Street, and that's where I began my work, as well. And, luckily, I was able to come to Mosman and watch their opening here. Como is more of a chill vibe. We don't get a lot of locals at Como, whereas we get, a lot of the locals from Fremantle come here. We see a lot of regular faces, whereas, in Como, we get a lot of people who travel from different areas around Perth to come and try our food. So, Como is our original, whereas Mosman is our, like, refined second.
